Community families are recruited, trained and closely monitoring MTFC treatment and intensive assistance provide for adolescents-posted at home, at school, and in the community. Important elements of MTFC are the use of clear and consistent boundaries with follow-through on consequences, positive reinforcement for appropriate behaviors, a relationship with an adult mentoring and separation of delinquent peers.
